In other words, don’t buy this product and assume you have five years’ worth of protection as this will not be the case. The software is designed for use with multiple machines at the same time, ideal for small home offices or busy families who have a number of devices used by each member of the family.

Not only does Norton 2012 protect you from threats, it also backs up your important data so that in the event of a PC disaster, you don’t lose those all-important photos and documents. This is all backed up to the ‘cloud’ so that no matter what, you can always recover important data, although it’s important to note that cloud storage only allows for up to 2GB of space. This should be plenty for most people though, so long as you don’t want to store a lot of photos and videos, which should really be backed up to external media such as a blank DVD.

Symantec, the makers of Norton products, also provide 24/7 support in the event that you should have any problems with installation or the program itself; this can be accessed a variety of ways, via email, online chat or telephone.

Norton 2012 also provides you with a link-scanner, so that any malicious website you may come across whilst you search the web will be automatically blocked, providing a further level of protection.
